At the time the Seven Years War was just beginning between the two European powers of France and Britain. Two side panels detail the three main regions. An inset upper left details the Shetland Islands and a fine ornate title cartouche adorns the upper right. Nolin was the son of Jean Baptiste Nolin I (1657-1708) who was also a geographer, engraver, and publisher on the Rue St. Jacques in Paris. Provenance: Doreen Green 2003; private English collection.
