This example of Nicolas Bellin’s map of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) was engraved by Jacob van der Schley (1715-79) for the Dutch edition of Antoine Francois Prevost’s ‘Histoire Generale des Voyages’. It is shown in good detail with mountains, rivers and villages clearly marked. With an attractive Rococo cartouche. Refer to Shirley BL G.Prev 1a.
