A chart of the Navigators Islands or Samoa as we know them today in the Pacific Ocean. They were discovered by Bougainville in 1768 and visited again by Comte de La Perouse in 1786. The tracks of La Perouse are shown along with eight coastal prospects. This is the first printed map of Samoa in its first issue with uncut margins, a fine example. An inset upper right depicts Bougainville’s track through the islands. Shirley ‘Atlases in the BL’ G.LPR-1a no. 64.
