The source of this town plan of Canterbury is the VERY RARE ‘Das Neu-Geharnischte Gross-Britannien’ published in Nuremberg by Johann C. Beer in 1690. It contained a series of town plans of the British Isles derived from various sources including Braun and Hogenberg, Speed, and even Merian. The map of Scotland in the atlas is engraved by Johann Baptist Homann who may have engraved the rest of the work also.
