The original letterpress stated ‘Brookes has taken great pains to render this map useful. The turnpike and other roads, with the routes of the Mails are accurately traced out and no expense has been spared to render it a most convenient and accurate map for Travellers’. It was advertised for 3s 6d in coloured sheet form or 5s in a case for the pocket. This example is identified as being ‘2nd. Edition. Corrected to present time’. It has an extremely decorative title cartouche. Provenance: with manuscript ownership mark to the verso of the cloth ‘Mary Cooper, 15 Charlotte Street, Dublin’; acquired from Lesley Aitchison 2001 for private collection of Rodney Shirley.
