From Carington Bowles’ “New Medium Atlas. The “Atlas Anglicanus” was first issued in parts which is exceedingly rare and then as the first edition 1767 re-published in 1777. It was published as the ‘New Medium Atlas’ by Carington Bowles in 1785 bearing different imprints. Emanuel Bowen (fl.1714 d.1767) was a very active engraver whose style is often noted by the extensive use of legends. A fine example of the map of Cheshire. Hodson 254.
