This is the second state of this large map centred on the Arabian Peninsula. It details the ancient empires of Asia Minor and the Holy Land. A finely engraved map by Groue it takes in the Black and Caspian Seas in the north, west to show Greece and east to the Indus River. The whole of the Red Sea is shown as is much of the Nile River. For this second state portions of the Nile River have been re-engraved to improve accuracy and a new inset is inserted of northern India lower right. It is striking how much detail there is on many parts of the map and the dirth of information in the interior of Arabia. The campaigns of Alexander the Great (356-323 BC) are traced. With an ornate rococo-style title cartouche. Pedley (1992) 382.
