This map of England and Wales is attributed to Matthias Quad (1557-1613). It was first published in the ‘Europae Totius Orbis Terrarum’ in 1592. It is derived closely from the Humphrey Lluyd map as published by Abraham Ortelius in 1573. It is engraved by Heinrich Nagel and published by Johann Bussemacher in Cologne. This example is from the ‘Geographisch Handtbuch’ published in 1600. Provenance: acquired 1992 for a private English collection.
