This fine colour keyed detailed map is from J. B. Killebrew’s “Tennessee: Its Agricultural & Mineral Wealth …”. It is by Tavel, Eastman & Howell, Printers to the State. Safford was the State Geologist of Tennessee following the Civil War. The map shows 13 formations, subdivided to locate a total of 33 sub-classes. Areas of iron ore are identified by simple green stars. A geological section of the state running east-west is found across the bottom of the map.
