A fascinating treatise proposing the advantages of freight railways to Great Britain. With a dedication at the beginning to Thomas Telford. It was an attempt to dispel local prejudices and opposition to the early railways. Much of the work is devoted to examining the economics and finances of the Stockton, Darlington and Liverpool and Manchester railways. Provenance: presentation copy to Henry B. H.
