This is sometimes referred to as the Hills plan as it is taken from ‘an actual survey in the possession of Jno. Hills, late lieutt. in the 23d. Regt. & asst. engr.’ ‘This is a fine platt of the area of Yorktown showing the positions of the armies and the fleets. Roads, houses, troop placements, lines of fire, and the configuration of the land is shown in detail. Hauchering is used to designate elevation. A manuscript plan similar to this is in the Rochambeau collection.
