An extremely rare separately published large-scale map of the environs of Doncaster in Yorkshire. It extends from Rotherham in the southwest to Thorne in the northeast. It is printed and sold locally by Dickenson Boys of Doncaster whose imprint is prominently displayed below. A second state removes the imprint altogether. There is no mention of Boys in Tooley’s ‘Dictionary of Mapmakers’, however the British Booksellers Trade Index lists a Dickenson Boys of Doncaster as having traded from c.1791-1805. He is described as a bookbinder, bookseller, printer, and publisher.
