A fine looking early coloured map of Cuba. It is hard to think of many earlier maps of the island itself which can be found in early wash colour. Published in the ‘London Magazine’ for October 1762 at the close of the French and Indian War it bears an inset plan of Havana. Also displayed are Jamaica, the Bahamas and the sourthen part of Florida. The style of engraving leads us to believe it is the work of Thomas Kitchin. Cueto 40 (with an incorrect date); Jolly, D.C. (Brit Per) LOND-217; Sellers & van Ee 1779.
