This uncommon map of the Chesapeake Bay is derived from those great maps of Augustine Hermann in 1673 and Henry Popple of 1733. Numerous toponyms are included. A decorative title cartouche and compass rose are also found. The map appeared in Bowen’s ‘A Complete System of Geography …’, first issued in 1747. Morrison, R. fig. 26; Papenfuse & Coale pl. 24.
