Two neatly engraved large-scale maps of England and Wales, and Scotland. Both are drawn on the large scale of 5 miles to the inch. That of England and Wales includes a large calligraphic title and bears a large vignette view of the General Post Office in London drawn by Thomas Allom. The latest railways are laid down, there is an explanation, a table of Dioceses with crests and another of distances by sea between the various ports. All are set within a ‘piano key’ frame. The maps are unusually large and in superb condition with bright colouring. That of Scotland is undated. Provenance: Phillips auction 1984 for the private collection of Rodney Shirley.
