An extremely rare work engraved throughout as was typical of the works of George Bickham. Only three examples could be traced in British Institutions, those at Chethams Library in Manchester, at the Society of Antiquaries, London and at the National Library of Wales. It could not be traced in the British Library. Bickham was a renowned author and engraver of works on calligraphy. The accompanying descriptive text shows well his skill with script. Although three leaves are blank it appears that this was as issued. The title goes on to describe the work as being “with a brief account of their Foundation, Government, Chief Trade, Fairs & Markets, Members for Parliamt. Churches in each Town & thier Distances from London, Oxford and Cambridge with their Arms and Common Seals …

Duodecimo (125 x 80 mm.), full contemporary calf, worn. With engraved title page and 214 Arms and Seals numbered to 219. Numbers 48, 158 and 188 are pages left blank as issued. The leaf 209/ 210 is missing. Small loss to margins of plates 1 and 139 with restoration. Small tears to plates 195 and 217. Otherwise in good condition
