A fine engraving of the Palais de Bourbon from across the river on the Terrasse des Thuileries. The is before the Pont de la Concorde which now crosses at this point. It is after a drawing by Louis-Nicolas Lespinasse (1734-1808) and engraved by Louis-Joseph Masquelier (1741-1811). It was published in the ‘Voyage Pittoresque de la France’, 1780-1800. The Prospectus intended the work to match those of Greece by Choiseul-Gouffier (begun in 1782), Naples and Sicily by Saint-Non (begun in 1781), and on Switzerland by Laborde and Zurlauben (begun in 1780). The Palais de Bourbon now houses the French National Assembly. Benezit (1911-19).
