A double-page engraved map of the wanderings and life of the Patriarch Abraham. The map is displayed as though on a banner hung on a wall. It illustrates Palestine as far as the River Nile in Egypt. An inset with a small map upper left shows the region from the Mediterranean to the Euphrates River. An elaborate frame contains twenty-two scenes illustrating the life of Abraham. Ortelius used two plates for this image which ran concurrantly. This is from the first plate issued from 1590 and is likely a first issue. It bears a blank verso and is a particularly sharp dark engraving. The hachuring within the border runs from lower left to upper right. Laor (1986) 547; Van den Broecke (1996) 182.
