First published in 1822 this is the second edition of a detailed general map of England and Wales. The tables list over 900 principal towns and detail the county they are in, market days, distance from London, and population in 1801, 1811 and 1821. The title describes the map as ‘can be fitted up in a superior style for the pocket forming a Companion and Gazetteer for the Traveller’. There were later editions in 1832 containing the 1831 population data and 1838. Provenance: private collection of Rodney Shirley.
