The complete section from the English Pilot Fourth Book on Newfoundland including the two accompanying maps. The first entitled ‘A New and Correct Chart of the Coast of New Foundland from Cape Raze to Cape Bonavista With Chebucto Harbour in Nova Scotia’ is in two sheets joined and displays the Avalon Peninsula. An inset is one of the earliest plans of Halifax. Two further insets detail Trinity Harbour and St. John’s Harbour. The second map by John Gaudy in folio is entitled ‘A Chart Shewing Part of the Sea Coast of Newfoundland From ye Bay of Bulls to little Placentia. Kershaw #523; Shirley (BL Atlases) M.M&P-5d #7.
