First state of a classic map of the British Isles. It was so influential that both Blaeu and Jansson were to copy it. It shows Britain during the Anglo-Saxon period with the kingdom divided into the seven original regions. The seven figures in the left panel represent the different regional kings, on the right are representations or their subsequent conversion to Christian kings. Shirley, R.W. (BI to 1650) 317.
