A fine early detailed chart of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. These were severely hit by the tsunami of 26 December 2004 which killed 4,600 people on Katchal Island Island alone, this can be seen to the right of the map. Parts of the islands were moved 30 metres by the earthquake. This chart comes from William Heather’s “East India Pilot”, c.1805. He started business in 1765 as a publisher of charts and nautical instruments. NMM 343 no. 16.
