This is an unrecorded later state of Hugo Allard’s extremely rare map of the Turkish Empire. Hugo Allard (1625-91) was the founder of a successful family business/ Carol Allard (1648-1709) succeeded his father in 1691. From about 1696 Carol Allard published composite atlases usually entitled ‘Atlas Minor’, or ‘Atlas Major’. They usually contain a different map of the region indicating that this plate was issued earlier in his career. Al Ankary p. 94; Koeman (1967-70) vol. 1 pp. 31-3; Al-Qasimi p. 74; refer Tibbetts no. 111.
