Louis Charles Desnos (1725-1805) was a noted mapmaker, globe maker and publisher in Paris. Desnos was not the most successful of Parisian publishers, he went bankrupt in 1784. This rare detailed plan of the city of Rouen on the River Seine features many prominent buildings in profile. Various ships and boats are depicted in the river and along the dock. The ornate title cartouche contains the cities longitude and latitude. The map is enumerated ’41’ in manuscript in the margin of the upper and lower right corners.
