Heinrich Scherer was professor of mathematics at Munich and a devout Jesuit. His seven-part ‘Atlas Novus’ was finely engraved by several named artists including Johann Degler and Josef a Montalegre from Nuremberg and Leonhard Henckenauer. The two maps depicted here are one of the Black Sea above and a fine one of southern Spain below extending from the Straits of Gibraltar to Beria. Shirley “Atlases in BL” T.Sher 1a.
