This very decorative map of ancient Britain orientated with the west to the top. It was first published in 1595 and this issue is from the Latin edition in 1603 of the ‘Theatrum Orbis Terrarum’. According to Van den Broecke it is engraved by Jan Wierix. Its cartography is largely derived from Gerard Mercator’s wall map of 1564 with improvements taken from Christopher Saxton. Van den Broecke, M. 192; Karrow 56/16; Shirley, R.W. (BI to 1650) 186, pl. 42.
