This is a very detailed manuscript map of lands around Penpont just to the north of Bodmin, Cornwall. With a fine compass rose to the left. The reference panel to the right quantifies the land holdings. Robert Sandercock was from a family of surveyors from Altarnun, Cornwall. His father and grandfather were both named John and died in 1805 and 1847 respectively, the latter in the same year as this map. Robert was born in Tresmere 6 August 1816 and died 1865/66. He worked with his father and succeeded him as Registrar of briths and Deaths in Altarnum. Eden ‘Dictionary of Land Surveyors’ p. 222.
