A large scale chart of the waters around Fort Cornwallis in Malaysia. It is situated on the narrow part of the strait on Prince of Wales’s Island which is now known as Penang. The fort, shown in great detail in an inset, is now the town of Pulau Penang. Across the straights is the Praya River shown undeveloped, it is now the site of the town of Butterworth and Perai. There is a key to buoys and their colours. The whole was surveyed by Captain H R Popham. This chart is found in examples of Laurie and Whittle’s “Complete East India Pilot”. NMM 379 no. 140.
