This unusual chart of the Cape Verde Islands displays their relation to the nearby African coastline. It was published by John Bew in the ‘Political Magazine’ in June 1781. It is designed to show the naval engagement between Commodore Johnstone and Monsieur Suffren which had recently taken place and was part of the wider American Revolution. An inset upper right is a plan of Port Praya. Jolly I Pol. 29; Nebenzahl 217.
BEW, John
