A rare map of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) from Samuel Bochard’s [Bochart] ‘Geographia sacra, seu Phaleg et Canaan’ published in of all places Caen, Normandy, in France. Bochard (1599-1667) was a theologian and geographer. It shows only ancient toponyms and is embellished with an elephant lower left. The title below is supported by a decorative title cartouche.
