Girolamo Ruscelli’s edition of Ptolemy’s ‘Geography’ included newly engraved copperplates by Giulio and Livio Sanuto. First published in 1561 this example is in its first state as published in the earliest editions. It depicts the central North African coast as mapped by Ptolemy.
