In the great series of planned sea atlases by John Seller that of Asia was never completed. The surviving plates and work passed in to the hands of John Thornton who first issued this great atlas in 1703 entitled ‘The English Pilot. The Third Book’. Many of the charts are derived from manuscript maps, some of which were captured. The atlas then went through the hands of his son, Samuel, to the firm of Mount and Page in 1716. It is this latter issue offered here. Shirley BL M.Thor 3a no. 24 & M.M & P 4a no. 27.
