Girolamo Ruscelli’s edition of Ptolemy’s “Geography” included newly engraved copperplates by Giulio and Livio Sanuto. First published in 1561 this example is in its third state as published in the 1598 edition. The River Ganges can be seen upper left. Just to its east is the “Anrea regio” or land of gold near present day Burma. It has been suggested that the “Temala fl” represents the Irrawaddy and the “Sin Perinsulic” is the Gulf of Siam. Nordenskiold 227; Shirley ‘Atlases in the BL’ T.Ptol-10f.
