This appears to be a later state of John Rocque’s magnificent four-sheet map of England and Wales first published by Robert Sayer in his ‘General Atlas’ of 1773, this example coming from an edition of 1780. This state is the first bearing as it does Sayer’s imprint still. Later issues bore the imprint of Laurie and Whittle. An inset map of the Scilly Islands is lower left and the whole is adorned with a large attractive cartouche upper right. Shirley BL Atlases T.Say 2a nos. 6 & 7.
