This classic map is derived from Gerard Mercator’s exceedingly important wall map of the British Isles of 1564 printed in eight sheets. The text on the verso is in Latin and the pagination indicates that the map was issued in the editions between 1592 and 1612. This example is in its second state available from 1598, however later editions tended to have larger paper so it is believed this is from the 1601 Latin edition.
