A two part map, the top half depicts the north of Africa from the Canary Islands to the Nile Delta. The lower half focuses on the Barbary coast which takes in present day Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya. The south coast of Spain is displayed along with Sicily and Malta. Beautifully detailed sea going ships and vessels are shown in the Mediterranean Sea. Although unsigned this map is in my opinion by Philip Lea. I also believe it to be the same map cited as no. 61 in the Custis atlas. Pritchard & Taliaferro ‘Degrees of Latitude’ p. 352.
LEA, Philip
